Trial pricing: the test charge can be free, paid, or credited
Trial pricing is the amount billed for limited access before the standard plan purchase. It changes the bill by replacing the normal entry checkout with a smaller test charge, a zero charge, or a charge later credited toward an upgrade. A provider saying a trial is available does not prove that it is free, and a paid trial does not prove that its fee is deducted from the next purchase.
A paid test that becomes part of the upgrade bill
GeoNode’s Unlimited residential by throughput plan publishes a one-day trial for $100 and states that the charge is credited if the buyer upgrades. The named monthly plan starts at $1,800 for the 200 Mbps tier. A buyer who tests and does not upgrade has a $100 trial bill. A buyer who upgrades under the published credit condition pays $1,800 for the plan in total, not $1,900, because the first $100 is applied to the upgrade. That credit is part of this offer’s published terms. It cannot be carried to another provider or even another GeoNode product whose trial treatment is not published. The buyer should also confirm when the credit expires, whether an upgrade must happen from the same account, and whether tax applies to either charge. Those conditions remain not published unless the evidence names them.

Trial terms across 47 providers
In the current 710-row dataset, 32 of 47 providers publish an explicit trial.available state on at least one plan. Twenty-five of 47 publish trial availability as true, while 10 publish false on at least one row; those provider sets overlap because trial treatment can differ by product. Availability, price, allowance, duration, auto-renewal, and upgrade credit are separate fields or conditions. A published trial price without a traffic allowance does not support a per-GB comparison. A free test that requires payment details also does not establish whether the standard plan begins automatically.
Before using a trial to lower acquisition cost, record its exact charge, included capacity, access period, conversion rule, and cancellation deadline. Compare the trial bill with the minimum checkout cost for the standard plan, but do not subtract a credit unless the provider explicitly promises it.
