Promotional pricing: today’s discount is not the durable bill
Promotional pricing is a temporary or conditional amount shown separately from a plan’s list price. It changes the bill when the buyer satisfies the stated condition at checkout, such as using a code or purchasing while the offer is active. It does not change the durable price unless the provider also publishes that the discount continues at renewal. A missing end date is not evidence of a permanent rate.
One plan, two possible checkouts
Shifter’s Residential monthly bandwidth plan publishes a 50 GB list checkout of $175 and a promotional checkout of $50 for the same quantity. The promotion reduces the immediate published bill by $125, or 71.4%. The captured offer does not publish an end date, so the $50 amount is valid promotional evidence for that observation but not a supported recurring budget. The distinction matters even when both amounts appear on the same page. A ranking based on the $50 checkout can change as soon as the offer ends, while a ranking based only on $175 can hide a real saving available now. The defensible presentation keeps both figures, labels the condition, and refuses to invent a validity window.
A code is another condition, not a separate plan. If the code is published, the buyer must verify that the exact product, quantity, account, and purchase date qualify. If a code or eligibility rule is not published, the lower figure cannot be assumed available. The same treatment applies to a crossed-out price with no stated renewal amount.
Only six providers publish promotion data
In the current 710-row dataset, 6 of 47 providers publish a non-null promo field on at least one plan: Decodo, IPBurger, Proxy-Cheap, ProxyEmpire, Shifter, and Webshare. The field is populated on 12 rows. The other 41 providers have no structured promotion record in the snapshot, so their promotion state is not published rather than proven absent. Current promotion publication data
None of the 12 promotion records publishes a valid_until date. Some publish a code, some a promotional rate, and some a complete promotional tier ladder. Those shapes are not interchangeable. A rate without a purchasable quantity still cannot become a checkout, and a checkout without a duration still cannot become a renewal forecast.
For a one-time purchase, use the promotional total only after its conditions are confirmed. For a recurring budget, show the list checkout and the renewal treatment beside it. Keep the commitment and prepayment terms, traffic expiry, tax state, and source timestamp visible. A promotion can lower today’s bill substantially without lowering the next one at all.
