Proxy type

What this type is, the meter it is bought in, and how it differs from the other three.

Datacenter proxies: the provider’s hosted-network category

A datacenter proxy is an address that a provider sells under its datacenter category rather than its residential, ISP, or mobile category. In this dataset, the type records the provider’s product classification. It is not an independent test of the address owner, physical host, reputation, speed, or acceptance by a target site. ProxyScrape, for example, describes its dedicated product as private datacenter IPs assigned to one customer. ProxyScrape dedicated proxy description, retrieved 2026-07-25T16:33:08.221Z

That narrow definition matters because several commercial terms can appear inside the category. A datacenter plan can be shared, semi-dedicated, or dedicated. It can keep one address, rotate addresses, sell a fixed address count, or meter traffic. None of those modifiers changes the provider’s underlying type label.

What the datacenter label does not answer

The type alone does not establish:

  • whether an address is shared with other customers or assigned exclusively;
  • whether the address stays fixed for the plan term or rotates;
  • how many addresses the purchase includes;
  • whether traffic is restricted, explicitly unrestricted, or not published;
  • whether concurrency, location selection, or a fair-use ceiling applies.

Those are separate plan fields. A null allowance is not evidence of unrestricted traffic, and a dedicated label is not evidence of better performance. The dataset holds vendor terms and source conflicts, not controlled network tests. Proxy price data methodology and evidence

How datacenter differs from the other three types

Compared type The useful boundary
ISP or static residential proxies Both categories can sell fixed, dedicated, or shared addresses. The difference is the provider’s network category and product claim, not the per-IP billing unit.
Residential proxy services Residential products are sold under a residential inventory label and often expose rotating or sticky pool access. Rotation itself is not exclusive to residential service.
Mobile proxy services Mobile products can publish cellular network, carrier, device, or mobile-location controls. A datacenter plan does not become mobile because it rotates or targets a location.

A fixed datacenter address therefore remains datacenter. A rotating datacenter pool also remains datacenter. Static, rotating, shared, and dedicated describe access or assignment within the type rather than four additional proxy types.

Type first, purchase terms second

Use the datacenter label when a provider’s datacenter inventory is acceptable for the workload. Then evaluate the actual assignment and access terms. If the job requires a retained address, require a published retention rule. If it requires exclusive assignment, require a dedicated statement. If it requires a traffic allowance or concurrency level, require those values rather than inferring them from the type.

The datacenter proxy buying guide owns the category price range, matched shared and dedicated receipts, package-size effects, fair-use examples, and buying sequence. Keeping those figures there prevents this definition page from becoming a second, shallower price guide.
